Wollongong Maternity Photography

I was recently lucky enough to travel down for a Wollongong maternity photography session with Jade and Pablo. On a cloudy, overcast afternoon we did this shoot right on north Wollongong beach. And it was lovely.

Wollongong is a coastal city in NSW just 80 km south of Sydney. The name Wollongong is an Aboriginal word meaning ‘sound of the sea.’ It was founded in 1816 where the town mainly focused on grazing, lumbering and dairy farming. Wollongong was once a centre of major industries, such as Port Kembla steel production, attracted by the nearby rich Bulli coal deposits. In the late 20th century, steel production declined and coal mining with it.

Today Wollongong is known for its world-class beaches, it’s outdoor family activities and its laidback Australian lifestyle. It has a beautiful harbour that features, not one, but two lighthouses and it is a stunning place for Wollongong maternity photography.

I met this amazing couple on North Wollongong Beach and it is such a beautiful area for a maternity shoot. There is the beach of course, plus awesome rocky outcrops, a lagoon and some nice bushland behind it. It has a really nice variety of locations at the one spot and is a great choice for pregnancy photography.

Maternity photography is a session I recommend to all my clients and soon-to-be-parents. Huge moments in your life should be photographed. And being pregnant is one of those huge moments. You have a human being growing in your belly! It is amazing! So document this amazing moment in your lives. And do a Wollongong maternity photography session, not just for the two of you, but do it for your unborn child, so they can look back in years to come and see how happy you were and where they came from.
