Professional Wedding, Family & Portrait Photographer
Hi, I’m Adam. I’m a full-time professional photographer and I’ve been doing this for over fifteen years.
I photograph weddings, elopements, families and maternity sessions all over Australia. I shoot a lot of weddings each year, but I also spend a big part of my time photographing fun, loud, loving families and people who want photos that feel relaxed, natural and real.
This is my little family and they are the reason I care so much about what I do. I first picked up a camera more than a decade ago while travelling the world with my now wife, Kim. I loved photographing the landscapes we visited, but I always felt like something was missing from the photos.

It didn’t take long to realise that what was missing was people.
Like most photographers, it started out as a hobby. I photographed a couple of friends’ weddings and things took off quickly from there. Today, alongside my portrait work, we still run a very successful wedding photography business called Cavanagh Photography, and we photograph around fifty weddings each year.
Over time I’ve learnt that I much prefer photographing people over things. I’m not interested in rooms, buildings or perfectly styled spaces. I care about people, connection and moments. I’m drawn to soft natural light, especially early in the morning or late in the afternoon, and I love photographing outdoors where people can move around and feel comfortable.

I offer professional wedding and portrait photography because that is what I truly enjoy photographing. When I first started out, I tried shooting everything. Landscapes, buildings, objects and abstract images. The photos were technically fine, but I was never really happy with them.
Every time I looked at them, I thought the same thing. This photo needs someone in it.
I love portrait photography. I love capturing personality, emotion and expression. I like getting close for natural reactions and stepping back to show people in beautiful landscapes. My goal is always to create photos that feel honest, emotional and timeless, rather than stiff or overly posed.
